Research and publications

ArtesMechanicae approaches the study of the history of science and technology with an interdisciplinary approach, using a variety of sources, a great variety of tools and always involving as many different skills as possible. Research conducted in this way leads to the publication of articles, essays and volumes that, as well as always receiving great attention from academic circles, they are capable of arousing considerable interest even among the general public.

Exhibitions

ArtesMechanicae has created exhibitions and participated in the construction of exhibitions in partnership with the most important institutions dealing with the history of science and technology.
Among the most recent creations:

Installations

In 2017 ArtesMechanicae created a series of models based on drawings by Leonardo da Vinci for a private installation in Dubai. These are some small scale models, designed to be placed inside special glass display cases, a large-scale model of a flying machine, designed to be hung from the ceiling via tie rods, and a hydraulic machine. The latter required a complex design of the hydraulic systems that regulate the flows between the various tanks that compose it, as well as a mechanical design that guarantees the continuous operation of the machine. A work that represents an unprecedented synthesis between philological research and modern technology.

Teaching

ArtesMechanicae deals with teaching by creating hands-on models and workshops on the topics of the history of technology.
